Who Can Cast Beast Sense?
Druids and Rangers both get access to Beast Sense on their spell list at 3rd level. Bards can take Beast Sense at level 10 when they get access to Magical Secrets.
What Is Beast Sense?
Beast Sense allows the caster to use their action to see through the senses of a willing creature of the beast category that they can touch.
Until they use an action to come back to their own senses, they can see through this creature’s senses for up to 1 hour. They cannot see or hear anything through their own mind whilst looking through the target’s senses.
When and Where Should I Cast Beast Sense?
Beast Sense can be used with any willing creature of the beast category. It’s an excellent tool for surveillance as many dungeons have beasts of all kinds living in them, from rats to squirrels, that can be used to find more information.
It should be noted that your party should be willing and able to defend your location whilst you are using this spell, as you will not be able to perceive any visual or audio cues from the world around you.
Why Should I Take Beast Sense?
Beast Sense is a great reconnaissance tool for Druids and Rangers that can help the party gain insight into enemy positioning and tactical information.
