What Is the Infernal Constitution Feat?
Infernal Constitution in 5e is only available to Tieflings. It grants Tieflings +1 to CON up to a max of 20 of course. It also grants you resistance to poison and cold damage as well as advantage on saving throws against being poisoned.
Now that you’ve seen and read what the feat does, let’s dive into it.
So, is this feat worth taking on my Tiefling?
Personally, I go with no. There are of course special circumstances that might make this feat worth considering.
While this feat provides cold resistance and poison resistance, there are better choices available.
Poison resistance is fairly common among certain races and even classes, but cold resistance is extremely valuable as cold damage is very popular.
There are over 20 different spells that do cold damage in 5e and six different spells that do poison damage, so having resistance to both is pretty good.
Of course, this depends on your campaign setting and the monsters/ enemies that you may be facing.
The +1 to Con is just good on nearly any class, especially if you’re a melee class such as a barbarian or fighter.
It’s also good on casters as well since the bonus to CON could potentially make it easier to make those concentration saves and improve your overall vitality, which is useful to any class/character.
To top it all off, having resistance to fire, cold, and poison damage is pretty good, and it forces your DM to throw different damage types at you.
Infernal Constitution or Resilient?
If you’ve done any research on this feat, you’ll find it often gets compared with Resilient, which allows you to add +1 to any stat you wish, and in addition to that, you gain proficiency in saving throws of the stat you increased.
This is a very good feat and is usable on any character, which makes it far more versatile and popular than Infernal Constitution.
So yes, generally speaking, I say that Resilient is the better feat option between these two options.
